The Theory

I work integrating Person centered and Psychodynamic theory into my work and will use other theories and skills where appropriate.

Person centered therapy devised by Carl Rogers, is based on the idea that you my client, enters into a relationship with me where you are allowed to freely express any emotions and feelings.

This can enable you to come to terms with the negative feelings that may have caused emotional problems, and to learn new skills to move forward yourself as a person with power and freedom to change.

Psychodynamic therapy stresses the importance of the unconscious and past experiences in shaping current behaviour. I work in a way that explores with you how your past history affects how you relate today in your relationships, in your actions and in your feelings. This can help to bring clarity and understanding, and from that place there can be acceptance for the past, and change in the present and for the future.
